At Southeast we intend to bring God glory by partnering with transformational ministries, of geographies near and far, that deeply and measurably impact both the lives of those being served and those who serve.
I. We use two 'hands’ to share the Gospel in our goal of seeing people come to Christ.
- In response to the Great Commandment mandate to love God and our neighbors (Mt.22:34-40), we actively engage ourselves in the 'incarnational hand’ by seeking to tangibly meet people's felt and practical needs - sharing the Good News without words.
- In time, we've seen that meeting people's felt needs often opens the door to the 'proclamational hand’, allowing us or those we serve with, to share the life-changing message of Christ's provision for us in response to the Great Commission mandate (Mt.28:18-20) to speak the truth and make disciples. -view illustration (PDF)-
II. While there are innumerable good-works being done by vast numbers of organizations in Jesus’ name, we ask the Lord to guide us to partners that are the best ‘fit’ for us. We are therefore very intentional with our resources, seeking to invest time, money, and other church tools where our passion is greatest with partnerships that generate the greatest possible impact for God’s Kingdom.
IV. Service is the natural response of every follower of Jesus. Every Christian is called and uniquely gifted to serve their neighbor, and therefore we invite your involvement in this response. At Southeast we maintain a database of volunteer service opportunities that span both geography and program preference – but realize that God uses you to help us identify other needs and invite you to bring them to our attention.
III. We use various criteria to assess and audit our partnerships, seeking the greatest return on our investment of resources (ROI = transformed lives). Of primary concern is that programs are developmentally appropriate, that those being served are being equipped, empowered and released to all God intends for them. We support appropriate interdependancies, while working to avoid the creation or sustaining of unhealthy dependencies - and expect our partners to do the same.
Bring your gifts, talents, and passion alongside us to serve those who have needs - across the street or across the globe. The life that changes might be your own.
