Family and Senior Homeless Initiative by the Denver Rescue Mission: Be a Mentor

The biggest need that the mission has right now is for mentor teams.  In their effort to help the homeless become self-sufficient the rescue mission has built a mentoring program which engages church members with those who desire a better life for themselves.  This is probably one of the most impactful service opportunities a small group could do together, as they team up 3 to 6 people who are interested from Southeast Christian and who wish to make a difference in a family's life.  For more information please contact Kent Ross listed below.

International Student Inc.

Did you know that approximately 1,200 international students from 85 countries study at the University of Denver? On a broader scale, there are approximately 842,000 internationals studying in the USA coming from all over the world. Almost half come from countries that are closed to the Gospel. Here they find themselves out from under the oppression of their govenrment and are open to the newness of a society and cutlure that boasts of freedom. To answer this need, a ministry called International Students', Incl exists at DU. ISI is a volunteer-based national ministry with Global Impact that exists to share Christ's love with international students and to equip them for effective service in cooperation with the local church and others.

If you love people from other countries, come join this ministry and start building relationships with these international students. You can do this through the Airport Pick-Up and Friendship Partner Programs, as well as on hikes, around campus, and at various special events. Join ISI's Laura Compton, who serves with ISI as Campus Director at the University of Denver and imapct lives from all over the world for eternity.

Prison Ministry: HALFWAY HOUSE MINISTRY

Southeast Christian partners with Cherry Hills Community Church to minister to those who are in the Halfway House system. Royal Family Kids' Camp

Royal Family Kids is a camp for the children in the foster system. Essentially, we take more than 30 kids who have gone through some of the toughest, abusive and neglectful situations possible and demonstrate the love of Jesus Christ to them in a week long summer camp experience. The goal is to treat them as royalty and help them understand their place in God’s heart.

There are many opportunities to serve in this ministry. We need camp counselors, event personnel, photographers, a drama team and other staff that have a heart to love on and serve kids. Everyone involved will be provided with extensive training that will be provided for everyone involved. Please prayerfully consider whether God may be calling you to partner with us in this extraordinary endeavor.

Whiz Kids Tutoring

This organization pairs at-risk kids with caring adult volunteers who tutor and mentor them in the spirit of Christ. Whiz Kids is instrumental in providing extra literacy and math help to struggling students primarily in elementary school, but it is expanding to include middle school students, as well. Whiz Kids has 43 locations throughout the Denver Metro area with convenient times and days. They coordinate one-on-one tutoring sessions for multiple pairs of volunteers and students at host sites - local churches or schools. Tutoring is 1.5 hours/week, with an additional spiritual component where kids get the opportunity to hear the Gospel during the fun, interactive Club time. If you love kids and would like to tutor a child, Whiz Kids Tutoring would love to hear from you.
