Part-time Assistant Preschool Teacher
Job Description


Reports to:  Director, Preschool

Position description:  Assist lead classroom teacher in the general supervision and management of a class of up to sixteen children ages 4-5 for the remainder of the 2009-2010 school year.

Duties and responsibilities:
•    Plan and prepare for activities (i.e., Learning Centers, Art projects, Bible story)
•    Decorate and keep classroom attractive and relevant
•    Organize classroom as directed by Lead Teacher
•    Attend required Staff and Prayer Meetings
•    Keep certifications current (i.e., CPR/First Aid etc.)
•    Prepare Needs List for supplies for relevant classroom
•    Keep communication current with Lead Teacher and Director
•    Assist in preparing for Parent/Teacher Conferences
•    Attend all field trips
•    Keep Resource Room neat and tidy; classroom clean at the end of each class session
•    Maintain professional attitude and loyalty to the school
•    Treat children, parents, other teachers with respect and dignity

Essential skills/abilities:
•    3 year+ experience working with young children (birth – 8 years)
•    Bachelor’s Degree preferred
•    Completion of two Early Childhood Education classes
•    Patience and flexibility; ability to relate to young children and adults
•    Have a general understanding of Bible stories and a willingness to be trained in telling Bible stories in fun and exciting ways
•    Lesson planning skills

Time Requirement:  Tuesday and Thursday mornings, 8:15 am – 12:00 pm; plus mandatory training and meetings as needed.
